Say hello to growing in water

Where you come to master tower gardens & hydroponic gardening.

The roots & shoots of Humble Growth

The School of Hydroponics

Five modules. Five gardens. You don't watch me grow — you build alongside me, one system at a time, until you're running a garden that never stops producing.

Five gardens, one per module

You build a different system in each one, and every system delivers more oxygen to the roots than the last. That matters because the more oxygen roots get, the faster plants grow — so each garden you build outgrows the one before it.

I'm Chad Miner

a hydroponic expert & educator

Everything on this page was built to help you learn hydroponic gardening and actually succeed. Whether you already own a Tower Garden and it isn't doing what you thought it would, or you've never grown anything in your life and the whole thing is very new to you — I've got you.

I fell into this the way most people do — wanting fresh food — and then got completely hooked on how the whole thing works. Plants grow faster in water. They use a fraction of the water. You can stack them vertically and feed a family off a footprint the size of a bar stool. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

More about me

I started in soil. The soil fought back.

Bugs. Wind that flattened whatever stood up. Sun that scorched whatever the wind missed. Downpours that washed the beds out overnight. Deer that ate what survived, and cats that used what the deer left behind. And under all of it, soil that needed feeding, turning and rebuilding every season just to stay where it already was.

Then I found hydroponics, and it was like watching someone quietly solve every one of those problems at once. No soil to revitalise, because there's no soil. No weeds, because weed seeds live in the dirt you no longer have. Far fewer pests, because you've removed the place most of them live. You decide the water, the food and — indoors — the weather.

And it's faster. Roots sitting in nutrient solution don't spend energy hunting for food, so that energy goes into leaves instead. Same plant, same seed, a fraction of the fight.

I was blown away. Honestly, I still am.
